It may appear to have been slimed by a Ghostbuster or to have gotten radioactive, but it’s actually just living things naturally emitting light along a drenched relic of a tree that has long since fallen.
Mathew Nichols discovered these spooky glowing logs on a nocturnal stroll along a Washington coast beach.
He told FOX Weather, “I have been searching for the glowing logs for several weeks without success.”
Then, though, there they were.
“When I stepped onto the beach, I noticed a few bright places,” he explained. Excited, I ran closer to two shining logs, where I encountered them.
What a glow!
The glow arises from fungus emitting natural light and energy as it consumes the decaying wood and also goes by the name of “foxfire.“
“Experiencing these logs shine in the dark naturally…feels like pure magic,” added Nichols.
This display, according to Nichols, was astonishingly bright, and he did not boost the color in the shots, despite the longer exposure.
Nichols stated, “The logs shine so brightly that you can hold them up to a book in the dark and read the pages.”
