U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, has named Coca-Cola Africa Operating Unit President, Bruno Pietracci, to the U.S. President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA).

Since its establishment in 2014, the PAC-DBIA has served as a crucial platform for discussion between the U.S. government and the private sector and, through its recommendations, has significantly influenced American trade and investment policy and initiatives with Africa.

Pietracci is one of a group of 24 private sector business leaders who will serve on a panel for two years to advance the Biden Administration’s goal of enhancing and deepening American business ties with Africa that are founded on common goals, support, and respect for one another and their responsibilities.

The PAC-DBIA will give the President advice on how to encourage U.S. business participation in economic sectors vital to Africa’s inclusive long-term growth and the recovery from recent global crises, as well as how to increase trade and investment to create jobs in both the United States and Africa, as well as how to strengthen partnerships and other mechanisms for cooperation.

The PAC-DBIA will specifically offer insights to help implement Biden Administration priorities, such as the Prosper Africa initiative, the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, and other sector-specific initiatives as needed.

It will also support the African Continental Free Trade Area and bilateral memoranda of understanding led by the U.S. Department of Commerce that are centered on U.S. commercial cooperation with African nations.

“It is a privilege for me to be chosen to join the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa.

For more than 90 years, Coca-Cola has been reviving Africa and making a difference, and we see ourselves as an essential component of the continent we call home.

According to Bruno Pietracci, president of The Coca-Cola Company in Africa, “Coca-Cola and PAC-DBIA share a commitment to expand opportunities across the continent to pave the path for a brighter and more inclusive future by harnessing Africa’s great potential.
