DA L.E.S, the rapper and star of Love & Hip Hop South Africa, held his annual all-white party at his home in Bryanston on Saturday, 25 February.
The event had been rescheduled following the death of his best friend, AKA. DA L.E.S took a moment during the party to remember AKA, whose real name is Kiernan Forbes.
In a video posted online, DA L.E.S said, “Super Mega is watching down on us as an angel. He will live through all of us. Rest in peace AKA. We love you so much. The world is yours, heaven is yours.”
DA L.E.S and AKA had a close friendship, which had been tested in the past. They had a falling out after rumours circulated that AKA was linked to DA L.E.S’s baby mama, Aurea Alexander.
DA L.E.S cut ties with AKA, and in 2020, he released the single Gucci Snakes, which had lyrics alluding to the feud. However, they were able to bury the hatchet at Cotton Fest 2022, where they performed their hit songs Real Stuff and All Eyes on Me.
During the show, AKA brought out DA L.E.S as part of his act, and they embraced after the performance. DA L.E.S had also paid tribute to another friend, Riky Rick, at the previous year’s all-white party. The event had been rescheduled due to AKA’s death, but DA L.E.S made sure it was still an exclusive affair.
AKA’s alleged affair with Aurea Alexander’s caused a rift between him and DA L.E.S, but they were able to put their differences aside to remember their friend at the all-white party.
Their friendship dates back to 2013 when they both appeared on Tropika Island of Treasure season five. With the release of the single, Mass Country, and Nadia getting steamy on Dangerous, AKA continues to make waves in the music industry.
