Two men were rushed to the hospital after a s’mores explosion at Hollywood actor Gwyneth Paltrow’s store in Sag Harbor Village, New York

Two men were badly injured after they tried making s’mores with rubbing alcohol at Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Goop store in the upscale Hamptons village of Sag Harbor.

The Hollywood star’s wellness store was hosting an event June 25 when two caterers were badly burned after stone candle holders filled with rubbing alcohol exploded, Sag Harbor Village Chief of Police Austin J. McGuire told DailyMail.com

One of the men had to be life-flighted to hospital, while the other was rushed to hospital with bad burns.

The fireball is said to have erupted while smores were being toasted at Gwyneth’s lifestyle store in the smart enclave – although there’s no suggestion the incident was the result of one of her wacky new trends, including vagina-scented candles.

‘Nothings ever new, but this one takes the cake,’ McGuire said. ‘I’ve never seen anything like this in 26 years.’

McGuire was notified that eventgoers were roasting marshmallows over the candleholders when the incident occurred – a method the event planners suggested.

‘Probably tasted pretty disgusting,’ he added in response to the method.

Online advertisements for portable s’mores kits feature individuals toasting marshmallows over a tiny flame created by a can of gasoline, however it’s not clear if this is what gave rise to the terrifying explosion.

One of the workers accidentally poured extra rubbing alcohol to the candle holders before the flame had completely gone out, which caused the fire. The men attempted to put out the fire using a shop fire extinguisher, but it backfired.

One of the patients had face burns and was taken right away to a nearby hospital. After having the back of his head, back, and neck burnt, the other victim sustains more serious wounds.

He had to be flown by helicopter to a trauma facility. Although the accident was survived by both victims, it is yet unclear how they are doing.

In response to the event, a spokesperson from Paltrow’s business stated that “the information about rubbing alcohol and candles is factually incorrect.” Furthermore, it was asserted that the fire was not caused by candles.

‘There was an accidental fire in connection with a s’mores station at the goop store recently. We are wishing a speedy recovery to the two injured parties and are grateful there were no additional injuries. No candles were in use at the time of the accidental fire,’ a Goop representative said.

Goop declined to respond to how the fire ignited.
