Two men were captured on surveillance footage torching a family’s brand-new £20,000 food truck business.
Sharon Jolley, who established the business with her husband Mike, 53, during the lockdown in Wigan, Greater Manchester, stated that she has been “traumatized” by the attack.
Following the September 14 incident on Rosebridge Court in Ince at approximately 11 p.m., the family has stated that they “want justice.”
CCTV footage captures the moment two hooded, bicycle-riding criminals approach the blue truck while concealing their identities with hoods and masks.
One is seen shattering the window on the passenger side before dousing the front seats with an ignitable substance.
Meanwhile, the other thug can be seen removing white cloth pieces from his pocket, dousing them with a liquid, and then setting them ablaze.
There appears to be a massive explosion of flames, driving both guys to flee from the pieces of fabric that are lying on the burning ground.
However, the vandals retrieve them and reintroduce them to the food truck. The truck immediately bursts into flames as the criminals flee the scene on their bicycles.
The family which owns the truck, which was just beginning to earn a profit, is requesting police and public assistance in locating the thieves.
Mike stated, “The snack van has been destroyed by fire, and we are now £20,000 in debt.”
“My wife’s business has failed, we don’t have the funds to purchase another snack truck, and these folks are still operating.”
“My wife is traumatized, and the food truck was a new business venture that began at the start of lockdown.” It was formerly profitable, but we’ve since lost all of that.
She has lost her business, and it’s gone for good. We’re not looking for sympathy or anything of the sort; we just want justice.
Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service stated, “Around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14th, crews responded to a vehicle fire on Rosebridge Court in Ince.”
A fire engine from Hindley rushed to the location, where they discovered a catering truck on fire in a parking lot.
Firefighters using breathing protection quickly removed gas canisters from the car and extinguished the flames with two hose reels.
Firefighters remained at the scene for around an hour before turning it over to Greater Manchester Police officers.
Greater Manchester Police informed MailOnline that no arrests have been made yet, but the investigation continues.
