Two men assaulted at Southport on Wednesday night

Police are investigating into the abduction, loss of liberty, and torture of one man and the attempted kidnapping and armed robbery of the other on Wednesday night in Southport.

On January 18 at 8 p.m., a 24-year-old male from South Australia and a 22-year-old man from Southport were in the parking lot of a Southport apartment complex when they were approached by five masked men in a Nissan Maxima.

Following a violent confrontation, both guys were pushed inside the 2020 Mercedes Benz C63 vehicle of the 24-year-old.

The male, age 24, managed to escape, but the gang escaped with his cell phone and the Mercedes driven by the 22-year-old.

Witnesses alerted the police around 8:20 p.m.

The 24-year-old was discovered with face wounds and brought to Gold Coast University Hospital in stable condition.

The 22-year-old was driven a short distance before being transferred to another vehicle and carried to a separate location where he was tied to a chair, abused, and allegedly threatened with a gun.

The 22-year-old was then delivered to a spot in Burbank before the gang departed.

Using a ride-sharing service, the 22-year-old returned to the Southport apartment complex around 11:30 p.m., where authorities discovered him with facial and wrist injuries.

He was transferred in a stable condition to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Around 9.45 p.m., the 24-year-old’s stolen Mercedes Benz was discovered abandoned near Brighton Parade in Southport.

Since then, detectives have also found the Nissan Maxima from Park Lane in Southport.

The police are requesting that anybody with information, or who may have observed anything suspicious or caught dash-cam footage in the area of Como Crescent, Brighton Parade, or Park Lane in Southport on January 18 night, come forward.

Investigations continue.
