Taxi driver assaulted on Monday night in Sydney CBD argument

Following a horrific attack on a cab driver, police are looking for a two-metre tall guy and a woman.

On Monday around 11 p.m., the 58-year-old taxi driver picked up the couple on Hunter Street in Sydney’s CBD.

The taxi stopped for a short distance on Macquarie Street, where an altercation erupted and the driver was reportedly assaulted, according to detectives.

 

After witnesses to the alleged assault interfered, the man and woman fled the scene.

The driver was treated for head and facial injuries by paramedics and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

The duo was last seen on Castlereagh Street, and police have released CCTV footage of them in the hopes of aiding their investigations.

 

The man has an Indian appearance, is about 200cm tall, has a thin body, short black hair, and is clean shaven.

He wore a white long-sleeved sweater, black slacks, and white shoes.

The woman is described as Caucasian, 155cm tall, and having long blond hair.

Her last sighting was of her wearing a dark brown winter coat, black leggings, and pink heels.
