Two juveniles are charged for allegedly stealing a car and dumping it at Heatley

Police have charged two juveniles following an incident where an alleged stolen vehicle was abandoned in Heatley earlier today.

The incident began at around 7.55am at the intersection of High Range Drive and Pioneer Drive in Thuringowa Central. According to police, a stolen white Toyota Prado collided with a Mazda2, which then collided with a Toyota Landcruiser. The Prado reportedly fled the scene of the accident.

The female driver of the Mazda2 was transported to the Townsville University Hospital after complaining of chest pain.

Meanwhile, the male driver of the Toyota Landcruiser did not sustain any physical injuries.

Police allege that at around 8.05am, the Prado crashed into a fence of a high school located on Hudson Street in Kirwan.

Shortly after the incident, the Prado was abandoned on Hanlon Street in Heatley, with the driver and passengers fleeing the scene.

Within ten minutes of the incident, three juveniles were arrested nearby. A 12-year-old girl has been charged with several offences, including four counts of trespass, two counts of stealing, and one count each of public nuisance, interfering with fire apparatus, wilful damage and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

She has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Townsville Children’s Court at a later date.

A 15-year-old girl has been charged with the unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is also due to appear in Townsville Children’s Court at a later date.

Finally, a 10-year-old girl was dealt with under the youth justice act. Police have confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
