Tucker Carlson present Jan 6’s footage for fresh perspective

Tucker Carlson, a Fox News host, recently presented new footage from the January 6 riots, which he claims provides a fresh perspective on the unrest at the US Capitol.

During his show on Monday night, Carlson showed footage of Jacob Chansley, also known as the QAnon Shaman, being escorted into the Senate by Capitol police officers.

Carlson suggested that this new information contradicts the prevailing narrative that Chansley aggressively barged into the chamber, as he was shown being guided by an official. Chansley was jailed for four years for his involvement in the incident.

Carlson also broadcasted footage of Capitol cop Brian Sicknick, who died shortly after the riot. Originally, it was suggested that Sicknick’s death came as a result of being attacked with a fire extinguisher and pepper spray by rioters. However, a medical examiner later ruled that he died of natural causes.

Carlson shared footage of Sicknick walking around the Capitol after the attack, appearing in good health. This challenged the notion that the Capitol rioters had Sicknick’s blood on their hands, as some liberal outlets suggested.

During his show, Carlson referenced Ray Epps, who was among the rioters urging them to storm the Capitol, yet was never charged. This gave rise to suspicions that Epps was an informant, although he denies working for the government.

Carlson suggested that Epps was lying. He also claimed that the Capitol rioters were not insurrectionists, but rather sightseers, who were orderly and respectful, taking selfies and queuing up in neat little lines.

Carlson pointed to footage showing Chansley inside the Capitol, being escorted to various entrances of the chamber, which appeared to be locked, before finally finding an open door. He claimed that virtually every moment of Chansley’s time inside the Capitol was caught on tape, and the tapes show that the Capitol police never stopped him. Instead, they acted as his tour guides, Carlson said.

Carlson also showed the moments after the rioters confronted Officer Brian Sicknick. Sicknick died the day after the riot, and in April 2021, the DC medical examiner ruled that he suffered a stroke and died from natural causes.

Carlson claimed that media accounts still describe Sicknick as someone who was “slain” on January 6, even though the video reviewed during the show proves that is a lie. Carlson said that the officer was healthy and vigorous and noted that he was wearing a helmet, making it hard to imagine that he was killed by a head injury.

The footage comes as Fox News continues to contest a $1.6 billion lawsuit taken out against the broadcasting giant by Dominion, who manufactured voting machines for the 2020 election. Fox News is being sued over claims that the network endorsed theories that the firm’s voting machines were rigged to deliver a Biden win.

The broadcaster’s owner, Rupert Murdoch, was recently deposed over the lawsuit and said he would have liked Fox to have been stronger in denouncing the stolen election claims. Fox News denies the claims made against it by Dominion.
