Trump threatens democracy, says Biden

Trump and the MAGA Republicans reflect an extreme that poses a danger to the country. Biden faces chants of “Let’s Go Brandon” and “f*** Joe” as he eventually mentions Trump and declares that “what’s happening in our nation is not normal.”

In a speech using his toughest language to date regarding his predecessor, President Joe Biden labeled Donald Trump a “danger to the nation.”

Egality and democracy are being attacked. We do ourselves no benefit by pretending otherwise,’ Biden said. ‘Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extreme that challenges the fundamental basis of our country,’ Biden said.

Biden spoke in front of Philadelphia’s Independence Hall.

He struggled to be heard above the demonstrators’ chants as he spoke.
Let’s go, Brandon!’ and ‘F*** Joe Biden!’ were among the chants of the protesters.

In a speech including his toughest language to date about his predecessor in the Oval Office and the MAGA movement, President Joe Biden labeled Donald Trump a “danger to the nation.”

Egality and democracy are being attacked. We do ourselves no benefit by pretending otherwise,’ Biden said at the beginning of his address at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

He singled out Trump by name, criticizing the former president for his bogus assertion that the 2020 election was stolen and ridiculing Trump’s supporters.

Biden said to enthusiastic acclaim from his fans, “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans constitute a challenge to the fundamental underpinnings of our nation.”

He made it clear that he does not consider every Republican to be “extreme” or a danger, but he said, “there is no doubt that Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans control, drive, and frighten the Republican party today.”

He said, “And that is a menace to our nation.”

He criticized them for rejecting his presidency.

“MAGA Republicans lack constitutional respect. They lacked faith in the rule of law. He said that they disregarded the will of the people. They refused to acknowledge the outcome of a democratic election.

Biden said, “You cannot love your nation just when you win.”

Outside the national park, demonstrators harassed the president with chants of “Let’s go, Brandon” and “F*** Joe Biden.”

In the backdrop of his speech, spectators could hear sirens, screams, and someone using a bullhorn.

Even the president addressed the hecklers: “Regardless of the people you hear on the other side, they have the right to be obnoxious. This is a democratic system.

He said, “They have never suffered from good manners.”

During his remarks, President Joe Biden said, “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent radicalism that threatens the fundamental roots of our nation.”

Naomi Biden and her fiancé Peter Neal, who are being married in November at the White House, went to Philadelphia with the president and first lady for President Biden’s address.

The president sketched a nightmarish future if Republicans win the elections in 2022 and 2024.

“MAGA forces are determined to drive this nation backwards,” he said, “backwards to an America where there is no freedom to choose, no right to privacy, no access to contraception, and no right to marry the person you love.”

They promoted authoritarian leaders and fanned the embers of political violence, which pose a danger to our personal liberties, the pursuit of justice, the rule of law, and the very essence of our nation.

And, Biden said, Republicans would again attempt to steal elections.

They see the failure of MAGA to prevent a peaceful transition of power after the 2020 election as preparation for the 2022 and 2024 elections. Last time, they attempted everything to inform the votes of 81 million people, he added.

This time around, they’re determined to subvert the will of the people.

The White House said in advance that Biden would not deliver a political address. However, he took direct aim at Trump, who is considering a challenge to Biden in 2024, and the Republicans, who are hoping to reclaim control of Congress in the midterm elections.

Everyone must do their role. So speak out, speak out, get active, vote, vote, vote,’ the president added during his address.

And Biden pledged to safeguard the republic, positioning himself as the champion of democracy.

“I will not be a bystander. I will not allow fraud charges based on crazy conspiracy theories and insufficient proof to override the decision of the American people. I will not stand by and let those who refuse to accept defeat to steal elections in this nation,’ he declared.

As your president, I will protect our democracy with every ounce of my being, and I encourage every American to do the same.

Biden also addressed MAGA Republicans who refuse to recognize the 2020 election results, despite the failure of court lawsuits, state ‘audits,’ and hundreds of court filings to reveal widespread electoral fraud.

Since Biden’s inauguration, Trump backers have been able to install persons who dispute the election results in state capitals in many states, and a significant number of Republican officials continue to deny that Biden’s election was legal.

They welcome hostility. They thrive in disorder. They live in the shadow of falsehoods rather than the sunshine of the truth,’ Biden stated in another of his MAGA-related comments.

He called them out directly for rejecting his electoral victory.

This country appreciates fair and free elections. We respect the will of the people; we do not reject it,’ stated the president.

Then he delivered a line that seemed to be directed at Trump.

He said that he would not let the will of the American people to be reversed by crazy conspiracy theories and charges of fraud unsupported by proof. I will not stand by and let those who refuse to accept defeat to steal elections in our nation.

Trump, however, is a force to be reckoned with in the Republican Party, where his MAGA followers may make or break a candidate in primaries throughout the nation.

Trump has a mixed record in these contests; he defeated his biggest target, Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, in her August primary, but other Republicans who voted for his impeachment have won their primaries.

Some in the GOP leadership are now expressing concern that the FBI investigation into whether Trump swiped secret materials from the White House may hurt their chances at the polls in November.

Trump still has defenders, though. On Saturday, the former president will be in Pennsylvania for a campaign event in Wilkes-Barre for the state’s Senate and governorship candidates.

Prior to Biden’s speech, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy gave a dire warning to the electorate from Biden’s hometown of Scranton.

McCarthy’s pervasive phrase was, “Winter is coming.”

He said, “Families are barely able to make ends meet.” “Electricity and energy bills are eating up family finances.” Every day, citizens are compelled to make hard decisions in order to pay their payments.

McCarthy said, “You are aware that more than 20 million American homes, or almost one in every six families, have fallen behind on their power payments.”

Voters have cited the rising cost of food and fuel as a major worry. The inflation rate, which reached record highs early this year, has begun to decline. In recent weeks, gas prices have decreased, bolstering Democratic hopes that voters would not take out their wrath and frustration on them at the polls.

Democratic expectations for the midterm elections are increasing. The party has made gains among independent voters, according to a new Wall Street Journal poll released on Thursday, while President Biden’s popularity rating has risen in recent weeks, according to a survey conducted by Gallup.

Biden has targeted Trump supporters in his Democratic campaign.

At a Democratic event in August, the president accused Trump and ‘radical’ Republicans of’semi-fascism’

Biden addressed 100 affluent fundraisers, “What we’re witnessing today is either the beginning or the end of an extreme MAGA worldview.” It’s not just Trump, it’s the whole ideology that supports the – I’m going to call it – it’s like semi-fascism.

Trump and the MAGA Republicans, according to Biden, are ‘destroying America.’

And he has said that he was motivated to run for president after the 2017 Unite the Right demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, when a fight between white supremacists and counterprotesters resulted in three deaths and hundreds of injuries.

He maintained his’soul of democracy’ argument throughout the past presidential campaign and throughout his first years in office.

On the one-year anniversary of the January 6th Capitol uprising, Biden said that the nation is in a struggle for its soul.

We are in a struggle for the soul of America. I’ve stated it many times, but it is never more accurate or real than when we consider the events of January 6. A struggle that, by the grace of God, the kindness and graciousness of this country, and its grandeur, we will win,’ Biden said in comments delivered at the Capitol.
