Rep. James Comer got right to work as the powerful Oversight committee’s leader on Wednesday morning, sending letters demanding information from Twitter and the Treasury on the commercial dealings of the Biden family.

In one letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, R-Kentucky, Comer pressed her to address the “suspicious business operations” of the Biden family.

Comer asked to view the Suspicious Activities Reports (SARs) that U.S. institutions had raised about the financial activity of Hunter Biden, James Biden, the brother of the president, and other members of the Biden family.

The president’s involvement in the financial activity, knowledge of it, and “if he has jeopardized our national security” are all being investigated by Comer’s committee.

Republicans, who were in the minority during the last Congress, asked the Treasury for the SARs, but the Treasury told staff that it would only make the records available if the committee chairmen specifically requested them.

Vijaya Gadde, who worked as chief legal officer for Twitter, Yoel Roth, a former global head of trust and safety, and James Baker, a former general counsel, all received letters from Comer informing them that their evidence will be needed at a hearing on February 6.
