Todd Stashwick’s Delight in Contributing to the Star Trek Franchise and the Possibility of a Liam Shaw Comic

Captain Liam Shaw is a character on Star Trek: Picard who is often perceived as a jerk by the audience.

However, Todd Stashwick, the actor who portrays him, is grateful to be a part of the Star Trek franchise once again.

Stashwick feels that he is forever a part of the franchise’s legacy, and he is willing to contribute in any capacity that the franchise may need him.

In the latest episode, titled “Imposters,” the crew of the Titan faces more challenges as the shape-shifting Changelings infiltrate Starfleet.

Despite his initial reluctance, Shaw helps Riker and Picard take the ship on the run.

In an interview with Decider, Stashwick talks about his experience playing Shaw and working with Patrick Stewart, who portrays Picard.

He shares that as an actor, he longs for scenes with conflict and struggle where the characters have to wrestle with each other.

In the previous episode, Stashwick had a stand-out monologue where he talks about the Borg attack.

Stashwick feels fortunate to have been given this kind of material and to work with amazing scene partners like Ed Speelers and Patrick Stewart.

He recounts that Stewart gave him a little arm squeeze of approval after the scene.

Stashwick also discusses his character’s perspective on Riker and Picard’s behavior, which he views as reckless engagement.

He believes that Shaw does not envy their experiences and instead thinks they need accountability for their actions.

Stashwick had knowledge of the big arcs of the story, but smaller moments were still being figured out during filming.

Despite not interacting with the old cast, Stashwick is delighted to see his friends do great work in the show.

He mentions that fans have been clamoring for a Titan spin-off, but he is content with contributing to the franchise in any capacity.

As a prolific writer, he is also open to the idea of writing a Liam Shaw comic for IDW or something similar.

Stashwick hints that the latest episode starts a new chapter, and Shaw is in the thick of all the action and intrigue.
