Three killed, 2 injured after 70ft scaffolding collapse at North Carolina construction site

In a terrible “industrial catastrophe” that occurred in Charlotte, North Carolina, three persons perished and another two sustained injuries.

According to representatives of the Charlotte Fire Department, the “industrial disaster” occurred on Monday about 9 a.m. at a construction site in the 700 block of East Morehead Street.

Three construction workers were reportedly killed when the scaffolding they were on collapsed, sending them plummeting 70 feet to the ground and being trampled by a wall.

In the aftermath, two more patients were brought to a nearby hospital. According to paramedics, they did not sustain any major wounds.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is now looking into the accident.

The remaining construction workers stated they were doing “as well as we can be.”

As the Fire Department claimed it was attempting to secure the area, dozens of first responders and vehicles from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department were seen at the scene.

Construction workers who remained on the scene told WSOC TV they were working “as best as we can” despite the fact that all work at the site has been paused while the incident is examined.

A location for family reunion has been established close by.
