Those students who took their matriculation examinations in late 2022 will receive their results this week.
Angie Motshekga, minister of education, confirmed that the matric results for the class of 2022 will be released on January 19 and delivered by schools on January 20.

In the meantime, with the new year well underway, schools have either already reopened or will do so this week.
The Department of Basic Education has issued the 2023 school calendar, which began on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 for students in inland schools and on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 for students in coastal schools.
According to BusinessTech, the 2023-2024 school year would consist of 199 school days across four terms, with 32 school breaks and eight national holidays in between.
Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and North West are inland provinces, while Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Northern Cape, and Western Cape are coastal provinces.
