The Argentine Rugby Union has declared that Argentina will play a Test against the Springboks in Buenos Aires to prepare for the 2023 World Cup in France.

The UAR announced on Tuesday that South Africa will travel to Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, for a match that will serve as preparation for their respective campaigns at the Rugby World Cup, which begins on September 8th.

The warm-up Test on 5 August at Velez Sarsfield Stadium, according to the UAR, will not be part of the truncated 2023 Rugby Championship, with Sanzaar yet to finalize the fixtures of the southern hemisphere’s main competition.

“We want to have a terrific year, always aiming to enhance all parts of our rugby, so that more and more people can enjoy the sport, either as athletes or spectators, and that we can continue to build the passion for rugby,” UAR president Gabriel Travaglini said in a statement.

As part of their World Cup preparations, Jacques Nienaber’s Springboks have already scheduled a Test against Wales in Cardiff. On August 19, the match will be held at Principality Stadium.

South Africa will compete in the Rugby Championship before that, playing three combined fixtures games against Argentina, Australia, and New Zealand.
