The South Sudan Oil & Power (SSOP) 2022 conference, which will be held on September 13–14 in Juba by Energy Capital & Power (ECP), will be attended and participated in by a ministerial team from Djibouti.

The delegation is led by H.E. Yonis Ali Guedi, Minister of Energy, who will deliver a speech in person at the occasion.

Other members of the delegation are H.E. Hassan Robleh, Djibouti’s ambassador to South Sudan, Wahib Ali Boulo, Director of Hydrocarbons for the Ministry of Energy, Mahdi Waberi Hassan, Technical Advisor for the Ministry of Energy, and Dabar Adaweh Ladieh,

Djibouti, which serves as a vital base in the Horn of Africa and is home to military installations for the United States, Japan, France, Italy, Spain, China, and Saudi Arabia, is a crucial ally for South Sudan in a variety of sectors, including infrastructure and logistics.

Djibouti can benefit from the partnership in the energy sector as an importer of fuel and oil as well as a nation that is just beginning its quest to find and develop mineral resources.

Djibouti is important to South Sudan because it is a regional strategic hub for many of its international partners, a market for energy services and goods, and a partner in regional development.

The Djibouti delegation’s attendance at SSOP suggests that the two nations are forging closer ties and raises the possibility of additional cross-border energy projects in the area.

Djibouti Ministry of Energy, the South Sudan Ministry of Petroleum, and other energy and petroleum ministries from the area will hold significant discussions at SSOP.

Djibouti will grow in importance as a partner for South Sudan since it is at the nexus of Africa and the Middle East.

According to James Chester, Senior Director at ECP, “ECP is thrilled to welcome this group for SSOP 2022 and to host crucial bilateral conversations.”
