The fugitive yoga teacher who is accused of killing her love rival in a jealous rage has been arrested in Costa Rica after six weeks on the run.

Kaitlin Armstrong, 34, was wanted for the death of cyclist Anna Moriah ‘Mo’ Wilson, 25, on May 11 in Austin, Texas.

She was last spotted at Newark’s Liberty International on May 18, the day the Austin Police Department issued a warrant for her arrest, according to US Marshals, who have been looking for her across the country.

According to US Marshals, Armstrong was apprehended on Thursday night at a hostel near Santa Teresa Beach in Costa Rica.

According to a statement from the US Marshals Service, Armstrong boarded United Airlines Flight 1222 from Newark International Airport at 5:09 p.m. EST on May 18 and arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica, at 8:27 p.m. EST using a fake passport.

This was discovered by members of the U.S. Marshals-led Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Homeland Security Investigations.

Armstrong will soon be sent back to the US.

The US Marshals service claimed that on May 18, a day after Austin police issued an arrest warrant for her, she flew to San Jose, Costa Rica, using a fake passport.

According to the statement, “This is an example of using the resources of local, state, federal, and international agencies to catch a violent fugitive, put a stop to that run, and hopefully provide a feeling of closure to the victim’s family.”

Armstrong sold her black Jeep Grand Cherokee to an Austin car dealership on May 13, five days before she left the country.

Authorities discovered Wilson ‘bleeding and unresponsive’ after suffering numerous gunshot wounds at her friend’s residence in Austin on May 11. Armstrong is sought in connection with Wilson’s killing.

When Armstrong’s car was spotted in the neighborhood around the time of the killing, officials came to the conclusion that Wilson was the victim of Armstrong’s jealous wrath.

Colin Strickland, Armstrong’s boyfriend, and Wilson previously dated. Armstrong tracked Wilson and Strickland using the exercise app Strava, and discovered that they were together the night Wilson was slain.

On May 14, Austin police investigators questioned Armstrong after learning that the yoga instructor was wanted on a misdemeanor theft of services allegation, according to the Daily Beast.

After receiving an anonymous tip that Armstrong lost her cool when she learned that her live-in boyfriend, Colin Strickland, had formerly been romantically engaged with Wilson, the police took the opportunity to question her briefly about Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson’s death a few days earlier.

Police showed Armstrong video surveillance of her SUV appearing to come to a stop outside the apartment where Wilson was discovered dead on May 11 during the interrogation.

Following a swim and dinner with Strickland, Wilson, 25, entered the building just one minute before the video was time-stamped.

A probable cause affidavit for Armstrong’s arrest claims that she “had no explanation as to why it was in the vicinity, and did not make any denials surrounding the statements made to her.”

During the questioning, Armstrong apparently confessed it “doesn’t look good.”

Unnamed police informant previously told investigators that Armstrong lost his cool after learning about racer Strickland’s romance with another cyclist Wilson in January 2022.

Police were informed by the informant that Armstrong became enraged and began to shake.

Armstrong said to the caller that he was so enraged that he wanted to kill Wilson.

Three days after Wilson was killed, on May 14, the tipper contacted the police.

Police then questioned Armstrong before releasing him on a technicality.

The US Marshals Service “elevated the investigation to major case level early in this inquiry, which likely played a critical role in her apprehension after a 43-day run” after becoming aware that Armstrong was evading.
