The biggest fish in the world came face-to-face with a diver

Video footage was captured of a diver coming face-to-face with a great white shark. The footage was taken by White Shark Ocean, a shark conservation company in South Africa, earlier this month. In the video, the shark is seen swimming through the faded blue-green water straight towards the camera. However, just before a collision could occur, the shark turns to its left, revealing a smooth profile of its torpedo-shaped face and long, sharp teeth.

This perspective allows the diver to get a closer look at one of the creature’s round, black eyes before it turns and swims away. Great white sharks are one of the largest fish in the world, with the biggest growing up to 20 feet long. According to the Smithsonian, these sharks can reach between 11 and 16 feet long. They can be found worldwide, but South Africa is traditionally known as a white shark hot spot.
