Teenager who savagely beat pregnant Perth mother with pram was on bail for violent burglaries

The adolescent who savagely assaulted a pregnant mother while she pushed her children’s stroller pleaded guilty to the assault while arguing she should be released despite committing the crime while on bond.

On Friday, the 15-year-old girl appeared in the Perth Children’s Court, where she admitted to beating the mother and attempting to rob her.

She pleaded guilty to the heinous assault that occurred in Smallman Place, Ashfield, on September 5.

The court heard that the girl, who had been freed on bond just two days prior to the attack in connection with a series of violent home invasions, attempted to secure bail twice more.

According to 7News, her application was denied twice because she was deemed a threat to the community.

CCTV footage saw the youngster riding a scooter as the 37-year-old mother walked into view, before the kid ambushed her and dragged her by her hair to the ground.

The stroller overturned during the assault, but the mother clung to it while the teenager hit her and attempted to grab her handbag.

The footage published by the WA Police Department prompted a wave of indignation on social media, with many startled by the brutality and others concerned for the mother and children’s wellbeing.

The twins were left hanging upside down in their overturned stroller while their mother fought with her assailant, who was pouring blows on her head.

During her trauma, the mother, who was five months pregnant at the time, had minor scratches and bruises.

Since her arrest for the attack, the youngster has been placed in detention.

The footage of the teen’s arrest showed her cursing at officers, yelling, and crying, while other members of her home wailed in the background.

She was charged with one count of robbery and will be sentenced in November after entering a guilty plea.

A second kid, who was with the 15-year-old at the time of the September 5 incident, was arrested earlier this month for a frighteningly identical alleged crime.

The 14-year-old, who was not charged for the attack on the stroller, allegedly assaulted a 39-year-old woman as she walked near a Curtin University parking lot about 4 p.m. on September 28 and then stole her handbag.
