Having been exonerated of having a sexual relationship with and sending sexually explicit emails to a 15-year-old student, a married teacher expressed her relief today and pledged never to “step foot in a school again.”
After being accused of giving the youngster a picture of her breasts, meeting him outside of school, and having sex with him in her car, Rebecca Whitehurst, 46, claims she is “picking up the pieces” of her life.
She told MailOnline today while speaking at her Lymm, Cheshire, home: “I don’t want to step foot in a school again.” I will eventually return to my career as a linguist, but right now, my main priorities are recovery and taking care of my kids.
“I’m so exhausted, I haven’t slept in who knows how long,” I said. It’s a big relief, but I don’t believe it has really hit home yet.
“Thank heavens that’s over with,” I said when I woke up in the middle of the night.
“I simply want to start preparing and thinking about the future and get my life and the lives of my family back,” she said.
Mrs. Whitehurst acknowledged that she had lost faith in her previous supervisors as a result of the claims.
Right now, I’m finding it difficult to digest anything and to recall how my life used to be.
It’s a true combination of emotions—incomprehension that it got this far, annoyance that it did, and undoubtedly a sense of relief.
“In my opinion, there is no other possible consequence, but the horror of not knowing.”
I don’t know why this went to court, but when I think about it, I tend to fall into conspiracy theory rabbit holes, she continued.
But don’t be deceived into believing you’re safe or anything; this is how it really operates.

“I think it was challenging to draw any other inference, but you still have the feeling that you don’t know these folks,” says the author.
They were extremely thoughtful to pay it such attention.
Family members had provided Mrs. Whitehurst with a lot of support, and she added, “My husband has been fantastic; he’s kept me going.”
My friends have also been wonderful.
So, not everything has been negative; positive things have also occurred. I am much more grateful for what I have now.
