Adhnon Marrtab, 24, admits allegation to rape and sexual assault.

A rapist who tracked and attacked a lone lady after she left the hospital has been sentenced to nine years in prison.

In the early hours of October 25, 2013, Adhon Marrtab made sexual remarks to the victim before chasing her into a churchyard and raping her there.

After authorities released a photo of the victim’s attacker, the 24-year-old was detained.

Marrtab admitted to rape and sexual assault after it was discovered that a bite mark on his shoulder matched the description the woman gave to authorities.

At 3.45 am, the 28-year-old woman had just been released from the hospital and was heading home when Marrtab decided to attack her.

She made a quick detour to a nearby shop after getting off the bus at Golders Green Station, then across the street to wait for another bus to take her closer to her home.

She then saw a man cross the street and start to approach her; he has now been identified as Marrtab.

He moved closer and snatched her phone out of her hand despite her shouting at him to stop talking to her.

He grabbed her and continued to pursue her while making sexy comments as she pushed him away and attempted to flee.

The girl was then attacked and raped by Marrtab at a churchyard before she managed to flee and leap a high fence to reach safety.

After the event, police collaborated closely with the forensic specialists of the Met to find the unidentified perpetrator.

A bus’s CCTV revealed Marrtab getting on the bus and tapping his Oyster card.

Officers were able to analyze a pattern of travel that emerged after obtaining a history of his travel.

Because the woman told authorities that she bit the attacker hard during the incident and anticipated that it would leave a visible mark on his shoulder, this further connected Maartab to the crime.

The inquiry’s chief detective constable, Detective Constable Pat Leonte, said: “This was a very difficult investigation, and we went to considerable measures to identify and discipline Maartab.

We searched through a lot of CCTV material over the course of several days and collaborated with different specialized teams to find him.

“This dangerous individual is now in jail thanks to the brave victim’s overwhelming testimony and the work of the larger investigation team.

We are fully committed to combating all types of violence against women and girls.

“Women and girls have the right to feel safe in London, at whatever time of the day or night.”
