Taylor Frankie Paul is charged with domestic violence

According to court records, Taylor Frankie Paul, a popular Mormon influencer on TikTok, has been charged with domestic violence and child abuse. The charges include two felony counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, one felony count of aggravated assault, one misdemeanour count of child abuse, and one misdemeanour count of criminal mischief.

Paul was arrested by the Herriman City Police Department in Utah on February 17 after responding to a domestic violence call. According to a probable cause statement, Paul and her boyfriend Dakota Mortensen were having an argument and when Mortensen attempted to leave, Paul allegedly hit him and threw several heavy metal chairs at him. One of the chairs hit Paul’s 5-year-old daughter in the head.

Video footage reviewed by the police allegedly showed Paul throwing barstools, hitting Mortensen and her daughter with them. Paul was also seen kicking Mortensen, putting him in a chokehold, and hitting him multiple times. Mortensen claimed that Paul threw her phone and a wooden playset at him, which damaged his car’s door.

The probable cause statement alleged that Paul admitted to throwing the chairs and playset, and the responding officer claimed to have witnessed her hitting Mortensen.

The police department clarified that Paul’s social media influencer status would not impact the investigation or the outcome of the case. All allegations of domestic violence are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly to protect victims and ensure accountability, they said.
