Swalwell says man called his office saying he would show up with an assault rifle to kill him

After a guy threatened to murder Rep. Eric Swalwell with an assault weapon over the phone, the California Democrat phoned Kevin McCarthy and former President Donald Trump to complain.

Tuesday, Swalwell tweeted, “A employee of mine, who has only been on the job a month, got a call from a guy stating he’s coming to our office with an assault weapon to murder me.” We are living in dangerous times, and Trump and McCarthy are the builders of that, I dread to say, but how else can I let you know. Bloodshed will soon occur.

He copied and pasted his aide’s account of the event in a subsequent tweet.

The individual, whose identity was obscured, allegedly phoned Swalwell’s number and demanded to know where he was because “he had firearms and wants to F**k him up.”

Rep. Eric Swalwell criticized House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and former President Donald Trump after a man threatened to use an assault weapon to murder the California Democrat in a phone call to his office.

The Democratic congressman shared his staffer's description of the incident, in which the man said he had guns and would 'f**k' up the congressman, while also using anti-gay slurs

The Democratic congressman posted his staffer’s account of the encounter, in which the guy used anti-gay slurs and threatened to “f**k” the congressman up with firearms.

Despite informing Swalwell’s assistant he identified as a homosexual man, he launched into a tirade on LGBTQ problems while speaking on the phone.

She said, “Said he is a homosexual guy, but doesn’t take it up the a**, but gives it.”

Additionally, the individual said that he would visit Swalwell’s office or other locations to harm the congressman.

According to Swalwell’s assistant, “He will bring firearms (AR-15s) to the workplace to murder him and f**k him up.”

The individual phoned at least twice, and the office of Swalwell was able to capture a portion of his message, during which he used the anti-gay epithet.

The majority of legislators are either back in their districts or on vacation while Congress is in break until after Labor Day.

A spokeswoman for the Capitol Police told Forbes that the agency “does not discuss prospective security measures” involving politicians, so it’s unclear whether they are looking into the event.

After releasing an audio tape earlier this month of a guy wishing for the decapitation of the Democrat and his whole family, Swalwell tweeted on Tuesday.

“I hope someone completely slits the motherf**ker’s neck.” Take off his f**king head. The guy is heard shouting, “Chop his wife’s head off, cut his kids’ heads off,” before yelling, “Trump 2024.”

Swalwell said that Republican concerns over the FBI raid on Trump’s home and club, Mar-a-Lago, in Florida, served as the motivation for the inflammatory speech.

He tweeted, “LISTEN to this death threat to my children.” Trump, McCarthy, and MAGA Republicans have been inciting violence against Congress and law police since the FBI searched Mar-a-Lago.

‘Someone is going to get killed,’ the California Democrat warned.

During the Trump era of politics, the number of threats made against members of Congress has exploded 10-fold.

In 2016, the year Trump was elected, lawmakers received 902 threats, according to the Capitol Police.

In 2021, that number had jumped to more than 9,600.

In July, Rep. Adam Kinzinger released some of the threats he had received.

While a Republican, Kinzinger voted to impeach Trump for his role in January 6, and serves on the January 6 House select committee.

Republican Rep. Liz Cheney’s re-election campaign was partially stymied due to her needing security while traveling to Wyoming amid a number of threats.

She recently lost her primary to the pro-Trump Harriet Hageman.

Republicans were the target of a shooter, who supported progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders, while practicing in 2017 for the annual Congressional Baseball Game.

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise was wounded by the gunfire.

Swalwell was one of the impeachment managers for Trump’s second impeachment, over whether he incited an insurrection.
