Nigerian musician Davido has disclosed that he received calls from American rappers Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby after being attacked online by rival fans for collaborating with him on tracks from his album ‘A Better Time’.
Lil Baby was featured on the song ‘So Crazy’ and appeared in the video, which was filmed in the US, while Nicki Minaj was featured on ‘Holy Ground’.
Davido said that fans of his rivals were messaging the American artists via social media and questioning why they worked with him.
In an episode of the +44 podcast, Davido explained that before releasing his album ‘Timeless’, he reached out to one of the artists he had worked with on his previous album and asked them to speak to his fans to “calm down”.
He also revealed that Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby had contacted him and asked why his fans were sending them direct messages asking why they had worked with him.
Davido urged his fans to avoid rivalry and bantering when he was about to release his new album ‘Timeless’.
He noted that he did not feature any American artists in the new album because he just wanted to put out music.
