SuperSport’s Gavin Hunt releases striker

Gavin Hunt and SuperSport United have been busy. The Tshwane giants have released a forgotten Namibian striker.

Additionally, SuperSport will introduce the new Niang?

Benson Shilongo is currently a free agent after SuperSport released him following the resurgence of Bradley Grobler and Thamsanqa Gabuza.

United reportedly signed the 30-year-old player, but could not reach an agreement with his former club, Pyramids of Egypt.

“We agreed up front with Benson that we wouldn’t want to sign him until his dispute with his previous club was resolved. Unfortunately, this matter has dragged on longer than anticipated and will not be heard until later in the year, so we have agreed that it is in the best interest of both parties for Benson to explore other options, and we will reevaluate the situation once his case has been resolved, SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews told SABC Sport.

“Benson has been extremely professional and devoted throughout his time training with us, and it is disappointing and inexcusable that any player should have a dispute go on for over a year without being handled through the dispute resolution mechanisms in place.

Matthews said, “We hope he can return to his livelihood and the game he loves as soon as possible.”
