“People are concerned for my safety”: whistleblower Mafokate

The Daily Sun claims that Arthur Mafokate’s former business partner, Brian Mokoena, has stated that he is not frightened of the kwaito legend.

According to City Press, the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) got a tip in the form of an affidavit signed by Mokoena at the Midrand Police Station in 2019 regarding Mafokate’s alleged mismanagement of Lottery cash intended for the poor.

On Friday, January 13, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said that it had seized R7.5 million worth of Midrand property belonging to Mafokate.

The guesthouse of the 999 Music CEO is one of five assets owned by former NLC employees, including two luxury residences, a plot of land, and a farm.

Supposedly, Mafokate’s La Villa Rosa guesthouse was purchased using NLC funds that he applied for through his non-profit organization (NPO), the SA Arts and Development Association (Saada). He reportedly collected a total of R9.5 million from 2014 to 2015.

Additionally, Presley Chweneyagae is entangled in a Lotto scandal.

“I’ve had numerous letters of support and requests for interviews from as far away as the United States.

On the other side, some individuals are concerned about my and my children’s safety, he stated.

However, he does not believe such protection will be essential.

“As much as I appreciate your unsolicited offers, I regret to inform you that I will not be accepting them. I do not need bodyguards or to hide. My life continues as usual since no one has the power of life or death over me or my children,” he stated.

Concerns for Mokoena’s safety have arisen as a result of a leaked voice note in which he discussed Mafokate’s alleged unlawful activities.

“I know all there is to know about Arthur, including how he operates and the amount of people he has killed. When I chose to retire a few years ago, I received a call from him in which he was sobbing about a CiCi-related matter.

Mokoena, who claims to have been the COO at 999 Music and Roadshow Marketing — two firms controlled by Mafokate — disclosed that the Oyi Oyi hitmaker began attempting to damage his name when he left the companies.

“I remained for two months before leaving 999 Music. Arthur continued to pursue me in an attempt to destroy me. He went so far as to give the telephone number of my ex-wife to my opponents in this profession in an attempt to fabricate stories against me.

In addition, he expressed his happiness that Mafokate has been identified, stating that he is “South Africa’s biggest art thief.”

“I do not wish to discuss the gun case he initiated or the contracts he obtained in the Free State. I finally went to the Hawks to lodge a complaint, as I had been anticipating this day.

“Today, the effort to expose the largest art industry thief in South Africa bore fruit. He concluded, “Mafokate, you have been wasting the nation’s money, but the buck stops here.”
