The Met Office has stated that thunderstorms and showers across the UK will diminish, paving the way for sunny weather and alleviating concerns of a potential washout at the Glastonbury Festival.
Two yellow warnings for thunderstorms remain in effect until early evening on Wednesday, primarily affecting areas in south-west England, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, the West Midlands, and Wales until 7 pm.
Parts of north-east England and eastern Scotland may also experience thunderstorms until 6 pm, with possible surface spray on roads.
Glastonbury Festival Outlook and Weather Forecast
Despite the prevailing weather conditions, meteorologist Craig Snell from the Met Office reassured festival-goers that the impact on the Glastonbury Festival should be minimal.He stated that attendees may encounter a few showers throughout the day on Wednesday but can expect dry weather until Sunday.
On Sunday, some patchy rain may occur in the afternoon, offering some relief.
Mr. Snell emphasized that temperatures would be warm, with a peak around 26°C on Saturday, urging attendees to prepare with sun cream, sunhats, and water for the hotter weather expected on Friday and Saturday.
Current Weather Observations and Weekend Forecast
Mr. Snell provided updates on the current weather, noting that St James Park in London recorded a high of 25.9°C at 1:30 pm on Wednesday.
Additionally, several places in Norfolk and Suffolk also experienced temperatures of 25°C during the day, making East Anglia the warmest region at present.
Thunderstorms have been observed in eastern Scotland, while heavy showers are developing in south-west England, aligning with the warning areas.
Looking ahead, no further weather warnings are anticipated after Wednesday.
Thursday is expected to be similar, with sunny spells and scattered showers in the Midlands, north-west England, and possibly eastern parts of Wales.
The south-east of England can anticipate highs of around 28°C on Thursday, increasing to approximately 29°C on Friday.
East Anglia and the South East may reach maximum temperatures of 30°C on Saturday and potentially 31°C or 32°C on Sunday before rain begins to move in from the west.
