Sunday 8pm will see a national one-minute silence for the Queen

During a moment of silence on Sunday, people will be encouraged to gather to “mourn and reflect on the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II.”

The public is encouraged to gather and observe a national moment of contemplation to grieve and consider Queen Elizabeth II’s life and legacy at 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, the evening before the state funeral, according to the Prime Minister’s official spokesperson.

You may observe the quiet in solitude at home by yourself, with friends, and neighbours, outside on your doorway or street with neighbours, or at any vigils and activities organised locally.

We invite clubs, community organisations, and other groups in the area to observe this time of contemplation. Additionally, if you are abroad, you are urged to observe the quiet at your local hour.

Everyone in the UK will have the chance to commemorate Her Majesty’s passing at the shared national moment of reflection, and closer to the event, we will announce the location where the Prime Minister will do so.
