Stacey Abrams, previously against abortion, now supports it ’till birth’

During a guest appearance on ‘The View’ on Wednesday, Georgia Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Stacey Abrams – previously a pro-lifer educated in a religious environment – claimed she supports abortion in some situations “until the time of delivery.”

When questioned by the show’s new conservative host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, if she believed there should be restrictions on abortion, Abrams responded, “Viability is the measure, and if a woman’s health or life is threatened, viability extends until the time of birth.”

Abrams noted that abortion is a “medical decision, not a political one” and that state-imposed restrictions on the procedure are “arbitrary.”

She also did not clarify what she considers to be a woman’s health or how abortion should be restricted if not by law.

In a recent episode of ‘The View,’ Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams discusses her stance on abortion.

Abrams, who lost to incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp (R-Ga.) in 2018, has stated in the past that she was not always pro-choice. Throughout her academic and legal careers, Abrams stated that she did not believe in abortion and ridiculed a friend who was considering having one.

According to a profile on Abrams in The New York Times, her beliefs evolved after she began considering a bid for politics.

In August, she revealed as much on CNN’s State of the Union, stating that she began to reassess her religious background and her pro-life stance began to shift in college.

I was against abortion prior to enrolling in college. There, I met a buddy who shares my religious beliefs, and we began discussing what reproductive care and abortion care are in reality,’ she said.

During a recent appearance on ‘The View,’ Abrams received no pushback or follow-up questions in response to her vague response addressing abortion restrictions.

On September 14, Abrams left a ‘The View’ taping in New York City.

Abrams stated in justification of her current viewpoint, “This is about a woman’s right to govern her own body.” This relates to a woman’s right to select and experience her own future. Consequently, as a matter of faith, I do not impose these value systems on others.’

Abrams has stated that, if elected, she will try to abolish Georgia’s current abortion legislation, which restricts abortions to six weeks.

According to my understanding, the majority of Georgians dislike this law. It is a strict prohibition. She stated that it is hazardous and impacts women across the board.
