Springboks will play only two home Tests in 2023

In 2023, the Springboks will only play two Test matches on home soil, with Ellis Park and Loftus serving as the venues.

Local Springboks fans must be satisfied with two Rugby Championship matches.

Two home tests will be held for rugby fans in 2023.
As part of the Rugby Championship, the Springboks are slated to face the Wallabies at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, July 8.

Argentina is also in attendance for a Rugby Championship match.

“Loftus Versfeld and Ellis Park are iconic stadiums, and we thoroughly enjoy the fervent support of the home crowds at these venues, so we are ecstatic to begin a crucial season for the team at these venues,” said Bok coach Jacques Nienaber in a statement.

“These Rugby Championship matches will be vital as we try to get our Rugby World Cup campaign off to a strong start. Playing New Zealand away and Australia and Argentina on the highveld will be perfect preparation for us.

“All three teams will enter the international competition in France as potential contenders for the championship, so we anticipate a challenging season.”

South Africa will play a RWC warm-up match in Argentina before traveling to Wales and Twickenham to face the All Blacks.

Rassie Erasmus, Director of Rugby, was pleased with the program.

“Playing against Argentina in South America is unique because they have a very passionate home crowd that brings out the best in their team, so that environment will serve as good preparation for our team with an eye on the Rugby World Cup, especially after getting a taste of the atmosphere at the international extravaganza in our match against France in Marseille last November,” Erasmus said.
