Spelling is indeed a crime! In illiterate protest, a vandal labels Barclays a “climate criminal.”

An allegedly eco-protester defaced a London branch with misspelled graffiti referring to Barclays as a “climat criminal.”

This morning, eco-warriors were spotted spray-painting a storefront in St. John’s Wood with pink paint as they renewed their assault on the bank franchise.

However, activists may have needed a word checker this time, as the phrase “climatecriminal” was printed in capital letters on multiple storefront windows.

This would not be the first time environmental activists have vandalized a Barclays branch; Extinction Rebellion members previously caused £100,000 in damage to a London branch.

Damage has already included shattering windows at the Canary Wharf headquarters as well as covering 45 London locations with black paint.

Hundreds of protesters at more than 100 Barclays branches participated in what was dubbed the “biggest day ever” of climate protests in November.

Eco-warriors have previously claimed their hostility to capitalism and its part in causing climate change as a motivation for acting out against the bank.

Today, Extinction Rebellion protesters demonstrated in The Hague, Netherlands.

Members of Extinction Rebellion have previously accused the bank of “continued investments in activities that contribute directly to the climate and ecological emergency.”

The campaign aims to incite a broader uprising against the political, economic, and social systems of the modern world in order to avert the most catastrophic climate change scenarios.

Today’s destruction coincides with the escalation of Extinction Rebellion rallies in the Netherlands, with groups waving fireworks and placards in The Hague.

It also follows Barclays’ announcement of the closure of 15 branches across the nation, with more than 100 banks expected to close this year alone.

The bank is planned to close 14 branches in England and one in Wales from late April to the first few days on May.

In only a few days, sites in London, Gosport, Bridgwater, and St. Helens are among those closing.

MailOnline has reached out to the Metropolitan Police and Barclays Bank for comment on the event that occurred today.
