Spanish Queen Letizia hosted Jill Biden and other spouses of NATO leaders for an outing in historic Segovia

On Wednesday, Jill Biden and other NATO leaders’ wives were hosted by Spanish Queen Letizia for an outing in the ancient city of Segovia.

The first lady turned it into a family affair by inviting two of Jill’s grandchildren, Maisy and Finnegan Biden, to accompany the spouses on their tour of the ancient medieval city.

The husband of Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, the first openly gay prime minister in history, Gauthier Destenay, also participated in the outing.

Additionally present were the spouses of the leaders of Australia, Slovenia, Turkey, Belgium, and other countries.

On a gorgeous, bright morning in Spain, the party took a walking tour of the city.

North of Madrid, where the NATO summit is being held this week, in central Spain’s Castile and León province, is Segovia.

The historic medieval town is renowned for its Romanesque churches, medieval fortifications, Roman aqueduct, and medieval castle, which served as inspiration for Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle.

In 1985, UNESCO proclaimed the city’s core to be a World Heritage Site.

The spouses took a stroll through the gardens of the Royal Palace at San Ildefonso Granja.

Numerous fountains in the gardens are themed after myths, including The Fountain of Apollo, The Fountain of Neptune, The Fountain of Andromeda, etc.

The fountains were originally bronze in color, but they were recently painted that way.

The spouses will also be given a tour of the Royal Glass Factory by Queen Letizia where they will learn about the process of blowing glass.

They will eat lunch at the NuBel restaurant, which serves shrimp ceviche and tapas.

Additionally, they will go to the Reina Sofia Museum. The most dramatic and potent anti-war painting in history, Picasso’s Guernica, can be found there.

Jill Biden won’t attend a dinner at the Prado Museum that evening since she is leaving for Washington, D.C., on Wednesday in the afternoon.

Additionally, she will miss the Thursday spouses’ oil tasting.

The first lady’s two children, Maisy and Finnegan Biden, have been accompanying her to a number of events related to the NATO summit.

They went to a Ukrainian refugee camp in Madrid on Tuesday with Jill Biden and Queen Letizia and met with Chef Jose Andres and his World Central Kitchen volunteers.

During the trip on Tuesday, the Queen chatted with Maisy and Finnegan Biden and gave them warm hugs.

The Biden women are taking a mini girls’ holiday; Maisy, 21, flew to Spain with the first lady, and Finnegan, 22, met them at the airport as he was already there.

On their first night, they had a glass of wine, and on Monday, they went shopping.

The trio arrived for the NATO meeting a couple of days ahead of Vice President Joe Biden.

On Tuesday afternoon, he arrived.

On Tuesday afternoon, Jill Biden, 71, and Queen Letizia, 49, paid visits to various Ukrainian refugee families that Spain had taken in.

Hugging many of the kids, the two women sat down with the families to listen to their tales.

With a young boy, they took a selfie. The daughters of Hunter Biden and his first wife Kathleen, Maisy and Finnegan, joined them for the day.

Also meeting with Chef Jose Andrés and volunteers at his World Center Kitchen were the First Lady and the Queen.

The Andrés team has helped with humanitarian activities in the Ukraine and is assisting with feeding refugees all around Europe.
