After witnessing a Domino’s employee fall while delivering pizzas to their home earlier this month, a South Carolina family want to reward the hardworking woman, who was ready to retire, with a substantial tip.

Lacey Keighron and her family decided to launch a GoFundMe campaign to give 72-year-old Barbara Gillespie’s final “tip” the most attention possible.

By of Thursday evening, Keighron’s Facebook post about the fundraising had raised almost $262,000 for the delivery man.

“She is an elderly woman who collapsed and was mainly concerned with the food she spilled. Let’s be kind to her and alleviate some of the stress that our economy places on the elderly in particular!” Keighron wrote in the description of the fundraiser.

Keighron stated in a TikTok update on February 9 that Gillespie has submitted her two-week notice and is “officially retiring.”

In 2022, Gillespie received the Team Member of the Year award from her store. Domino’s stated in a statement to FOX Television Stations that Gillespie is a “cherished member of our family.”

She always has a smile on her face and is also a client favorite. We are all ecstatic that these generous consumers were able to help her alter her life in such a significant way. We are thrilled for her,” concluded the message.

Doorbell camera footage uploaded to Keighron’s TikTok profile on February 2 shows Gillespie delivering pizzas to the family’s residence. She fell and dropped a bag and several pizza boxes as she stepped onto the porch.

The spouse of Keighron is then seen stepping out the front door and providing assistance.

Keighron told FOX TV Stations that her family communicates everyday with Gillespie. She stated that her family felt compelled to bless Gillespie because her father and father-in-law both retired late in life and died of terminal cancer.

“The fact that she was still working at her age brought back memories of both of our fathers,” she continued

The State of South Carolina reported that Keighron phoned the local Domino’s manager to obtain Gillespie’s surname so she could designate her as the account’s beneficiary. The media website also reported that Keighron and her daughters visited the Domino’s location where Gillespie works to personally deliver the news.

The State reports that Gillespie’s last day with Domino’s was Thursday, February 16.

During her retirement, Gillespie hopes to take a cruise and visit Europe, according to Keighron.
