South Africa detects 318 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of known infections to 4 004 201 since the outbreak

Thursday saw the discovery of 318 additional COVID-19 cases in South Africa, bringing the total number of known infections since the outbreak to 4,004201.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) reported that 131 cases were reported in Gauteng, 82 cases in the Western Cape, 37 cases in KwaZulu-Natal, and 24 cases in Mpumalanga. Less than 20 cases were reported in the remaining provinces at the same time.

The Department of Health added 10 more deaths caused by COVID-19 to the total in the meantime. The department claimed that there had been no reported deaths in the previous 48 hours.

As a result, there have been 101 977 COVID-19 fatalities in the nation.

According to the NICD, there have been 16 more hospital admissions in the last 24 hours, and at this time, 1 015 patients are being treated for coronavirus in hospitals.

Additionally, according to the department, it has given out 14 397 doses of vaccine, of which 3 992 were given to kids between the ages of 12 and 17.
