Son, 21, of ex-Steelers QB arrested for ramming SUV into pedestrian, 44, near LSU

Wednesday, Walter Andrew Brister IV, age 21, surrendered to police in Baton Rouge and was charged with felony hit-and-run.

Brister is suspected of striking a pedestrian with his SUV late Saturday night and then fled the scene.

Bubby, the father of Brister, is a two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, and Kansas City Chiefs, among others.

John McLindon, Brister’s attorney, contacted the East Baton Rouge district attorney following the event.

Sunday, McLindon was on the phone with Hillar Moore, according to the Advocate.

‘I said, ‘We’re not running, we’re not hiding, we want to self-surrender.’ He connected me with BRPD,’ he continued.

Brister was scheduled to turn himself in on Wednesday.

Brister, who is also a football player, allegedly struck and killed Jude Jarreau, 44, with a black Range Rover.

Funeral services for Jarreau are scheduled for Thursday at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, Louisiana.

According to Jarreau’s obituary, he was a Superintendent at MMR, where he was admired and beloved by many. Jude enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending all of his daughters’ sporting events.
