Snake disrupts patients and workers at a local clinic in Gauteng

Due to a snake that was discovered inside the clinic earlier this month in Katlehong, Gauteng, patients have been unable to receive the required care for the previous two weeks. Staff are no longer “too terrified” to come to work, and the monster is still at large.

There is a significant backlog of patients waiting for care since the Magagula Clinic has been largely unstaffed for seven out of the last fourteen days. Due to their experiences with dread, some employees have even asked to work at other institutions.

Currently, no one is aware of the snake’s poisonous or lethal potential. Additionally, it has mastered the art of eluding the experts who are frantically trying to capture it.

  • Treatment at the Magagula Clinic in Katlehong has been severely disrupted because a cleaner spotted a snake on Monday 11 July
  • Staff were evacuated when the serpent was first spotted, but it has so far escaped the hired snake-catchers.
  • Attempts to restore normality by the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID) have also fallen flat.
  • The clinic is a four-roomed house packed with boxes where the snake could be hiding.

But this comedy has about had enough of Jack Bloom. The clinic needs to continue operating in a safe and professional manner, thus the Gauteng Shadow MEC for Health has encouraged his counterpart in the provincial government to take more steps.

“Clinic staff have not worked in the clinic for seven days in the last two weeks, and are requesting to work in other clinics. Meanwhile, patients are suffering because of the disruption in treatment.”

“I have alerted the Gauteng Head of Department to this sad situation which cannot be allowed to continue. Professionals should be brought in to thoroughly examine the clinic to ensure that staff and patients are safe from the snake.”
