Siyabonga Mzolo and Mfiseleni Mahlaba murdered Mduduzi Mcambi

Siyabonga Nkosinathi Mzolo, an Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) officer, and his companion, Mfiseleni Mahlaba, were both given life sentences by the South Gauteng High Court for the murder of their friend, Mduduzi Mcambi, over a vehicle trade disagreement.

According to reports, Mzolo sold a stolen automobile to Mcambi’s sister, and Mcambi demanded payment from his sister.

EMPD AGENCY RECEIVES HEFTY SENTENCE

The dead left his Ivory Park business that evening, May 13, 2018, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and walked to the water faucet outside. He was shot many times while there by Mahlaba, Mzolo, and an unidentified individual, and he collapsed to the ground.

When the witnesses left the store, they observed Mahlaba and the other guys leave the area while Mzolo ran away to his vehicle. Community people stopped the police as they were heading to a domestic violence complaint and informed them about the shooting.

According to Phindi Mhonondwane, a regional spokeswoman for the NPA, the community alerted police to Mahlaba’s escape on foot, and they pursued him until catching him.

“He was searched and a firearm was recovered from him. Mahlaba was then taken back to the scene and thereafter arrested. The victim was taken to Tembisa hospital where he died, with the cause of death determined as multiple gunshot wounds.

“The state witnesses testified that all three assailants (Mahlaba, Mzolo and an unknown man), fired shots at Mcambi. Mahlaba confessed to killing Mcambi, detailing that the first shots toward the deceased were fired by Mzolo, and he also followed with more shots as all had firearms.”

According to reports, Senior State Advocate David Mothibe claimed that the killing was premeditated and that Mahlaba and the unidentified guy knew exactly what they were going to do at the scene since they were all armed.

According to reports, Mothibe appealed with the court to take into account the fact that the officer was charged with protecting the law but instead decided to disobey the law by planning the victim’s murder with his buddies.
