Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, expressed his thoughts on the decision to reduce the workdays for civil servants in Kwara and Edo States after the removal of fuel subsidy.
Taking to Twitter, Senator Sani stated that he is anticipating a governor who would go a step further and instruct workers not to come to work at all, surpassing the actions of both Kwara and Edo governors.
Fuel Subsidy Removal and Workday Reduction
The Federal Government’s removal of fuel subsidy has had significant consequences, including a sharp increase in prices of goods and services, as well as the overall cost of living.
In response to this, the Kwara and Edo state governments have implemented measures to alleviate the economic pressures faced by workers.
They have reduced the workdays for state civil servants to three times a week.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Murtala Atoyebi, explained in a statement that the decision to reduce workdays aims to ease the economic burden on workers resulting from the fuel subsidy removal.
Similarly, Governor Obaseki of Edo State, in a personally signed statement, stated that the reduction in workdays is intended to alleviate the suffering and mitigate the challenges faced by the people in light of the current economic realities.
