Background and Qualifications of Sylvester Okonkwo
In a recent press statement from the Senate President’s media office, it has been announced that the President of the 10th Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has appointed Chief Barrister Sylvester Okonkwo as his new Chief of Staff.
Okonkwo is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
He also attended Dennis Memorial Grammar School in Onitsha.
Experience and Political Career of Sylvester Okonkwo
Hailing from Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Okonkwo is a corporate lawyer with more than two decades of experience.
He has also been actively involved in politics, having been a senatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.
Prior to his appointment, Okonkwo served as the CEO of Chinto Technologies Limited, an ICT and telecommunications company.
He is happily married to Chief (Barr) Mrs. Chidiebele Okonkwo and has children.
Appointment of Saviour Enyiekere as Deputy Chief of Staff
The statement also revealed the appointment of Saviour Enyiekere as the new Deputy Chief of Staff.
Enyiekere is from the Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
He is an alumnus of the University of Calabar and previously served as the Deputy Director General of the Godswill Akpabio Senatorial Campaign Organisation.
Enyiekere has an extensive background in public service, having held positions such as Executive Chairman of Ika LGA, Senior Special Assistant to the Akwa Ibom State Government on Boundaries and Conflict Resolutions, and Board Member of the Akwa Ibom State Road Maintenance Agency.
He is also involved in professional organizations such as the Nigerian Environmental Society and the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria.
Enyiekere is happily married and has children.
These appointments reflect Senator Godswill Akpabio’s efforts to strengthen his team with experienced individuals who bring diverse backgrounds and expertise to their respective roles.
