Baroness Stephanie Fraser has been appointed by the Secretary of State for a four-year term beginning on 19 September 2022.

Stephanie Fraser is the Chief Executive of Cerebral Palsy Scotland. She leads the Scottish Government’s National Advisory Committee for Neurological Conditions and serves as a Trustee for the Neurological Alliance of Scotland. Previously, she sat on the Board of the Scottish Charity Regulator OSCR.
After training as a professional ballet dancer, Stephanie studied history at Cambridge’s Trinity College. She started her work as an Account Director at J Walter Thompson, but then returned to the dance field and retrained as a Benesh choreographer. Before becoming Director of Development at English National Ballet, she served as Company Choreologist. Upon returning to Glasgow to raise a family, she assumed the position of Director of Development at Scottish Ballet.
She was appointed as a Conservative Life Peer to the House of Lords in December 2020. She is a member of both the Adult Social Care Committee and the Covid-19 Committee.
Remuneration and Governance Code
Members of the British Library Board are compensated £9,130 annually. This appointment was made in conformity with the Governance Code for Public Appointments of the Cabinet Office. The procedure of appointment is governed by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
According to the Code, appointees are required to disclose any substantial political action performed during the last five years. This is described as encompassing holding public office, speaking in public, making a recordable donation, and running for office. Baroness Stephanie Fraser has announced that she is a Conservative Life Peer in the House of Lords, but has been inactive in politics for the last five years.
