Rescuers are once again conducting search operations Wednesday along California’s central coast in an effort to find a missing youngster who was earlier this week washed away by devastating floods in the San Marcos Creek near San Miguel.

Despite the turbulent weather that has killed at least 17 people throughout the state and caused rescue crews to briefly halt their search for Doan on Monday and Tuesday, police stated that finding the youngster, 5-year-old Kyle Doan, is still a “top priority.”

“Kyle Doan, 5, is still missing, and the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue activities are still underway. Although he hasn’t been found, the search is still our top priority while the weather allows, “a tweet sent out late on Tuesday by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office said. “We will keep the public informed of any developments in our quest.”

They found nothing before 5:20 o’clock. The office said in another tweet that the hunt will continue “first thing tomorrow am” owing to “poor visibility.”

Doan was rescued from his parents’ vehicle on Monday after it was submerged in floodwater that the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff described as “raging.” The first search was suspended “because the harsh weather conditions were making it dangerous for first responders to continue their attempts” after around five hours on the first day.

Fire Cal Doan and his mother were inside a car that became stranded in fast rising floods close to the stream on Monday during the storm, according to San Luis Obispo County Battalion Chief Travis Craig, who spoke to the San Luis Obispo Tribune. Before the first time their search was discontinued, rescuers allegedly recovered the child’s shoe, according to the Associated Press.

Doan is described by investigators as being 4 feet tall, 52 pounds, with short, dirty blond hair and hazel eyes. He was last spotted sporting blue pants, blue and gray Nike tennis shoes, and a black puffer jacket with a red lining. The San Luis Obispo sheriff’s office said that it is dedicating all of its available assets, including as air operations and underwater rescue teams, to the hunt for Doan.

The public is strongly advised not to undertake self-initiated searches since they may put them in danger and make them victims who would need resources that would otherwise be utilized for searching.
