San Francisco Mayor London Breed made $351,000 last year, twice the typical worker

The mayor of San Francisco received a salary of $351,000 in 2021, which is more than double the pay of the typical municipal employee.

According to statistics gathered by The San Francisco Chronicle, Mayor London Breed receives a regular salary that is about $100,000 more than NYC Mayor Eric Adams.

According to the statistics, salaries for public workers in San Francisco ranged from $36,000 to $601,000 last year, with an average salary of $127,000.

It happens after Breed abruptly changed her mind about her “defund the police” plan and called for “more aggressive policing” to combat the rising crime rate.

Last year, she had called on local governments to stop funding the police, saying San Francisco would be among the first to do so and promising to slash $120 million from the budgets of its police and sheriff’s departments.

However, Breed abruptly changed her mind and declared she was requesting more funding for the police from the city’s board of supervisors in order to combat drug trafficking, car break-ins, and theft.

She went back on her plans to defund the police, saying that San Francisco officers should become more aggressive and “less tolerant of all the bulls*** that has destroyed our city.”

It’s time for the criminals’ rule, which is wreaking havoc on our city, to stop, she said. And it ends when we take the necessary actions to be more proactive with law enforcement and with the modifications to our rules.

Breed demanded that’more aggressive policing’ take the place of progressive policies that have allowed criminal behaviour to discredit the city’s renowned tolerance and compassion.

Breed stated that she intends to introduce legislation that would make it more difficult to sell stolen goods as well as measures that would give law enforcement officers limited real-time access to surveillance footage.

In January of this year, she announced plans to divert $120 million from the police department to a variety of new and ongoing programmes for the African-American community. Her comments this year were a complete U-turn from those plans.

Following the police killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor in 2020, the movement to defund the police gained momentum during the demonstrations.

However, it was discovered the city had spent $2.6 million on her security detail in 2020 as she called to divert funds away from the police and toward community initiatives.

According to data gathered by the website Openthebooks.com and compiled by Forbes, San Francisco spent $12.4 million between 2015 and 2020 to protect Breed, with the cost increasing from $1.7 million in 2015.
