San Diego airfares are $230 cheaper than in May

In July, inflation started to slow down, which may have been influenced by the drop in gasoline costs.

According to the most recent figures from the Labor Department published this week, that in turn seems to have coincided with a decrease in airfares, which are down 7.8% in July compared to June.

According to the travel website Hopper, San Diego flights are now on average $230 less expensive than they were at their highest point in May.

Flights to Hawaii are now $145.4 less expensive, while a trip to Prague is now around $300 less expensive.

Traveler Sharrie Scott remarked, “I feel like it went up, but now it’s coming down to like regular pricing.”

As a result of soaring fuel costs and pent-up pandemic demand, airline ticket prices reached their highest point in May.

Ranada Young and her mother drove almost a hundred miles to get a bargain, making a roughly $400 save.

Instead of travelling from Portland to Los Angeles, they took a flight from Eugene, Oregon, to Burbank, California.

Young was nonetheless forced to pay about twice as much as she did the previous year.

At $400 for the two of us roundtrip, Young added, “they were almost fair at the time.

According to Hopper’s head economist, Haley Berg, for domestic flights in September and October, the average rate will be $238, which is a 37% decrease from May.

The best time to buy airfare is right now, according to Berg.

However, she anticipates that as more people make Christmas travel plans, the average cost will surpass $300 once again by November.

Although costs have decreased from their peak earlier this summer, when they were well over $400, Berg said they are still rather expensive.

“Between now and the middle of October, prices will likely decrease a little bit. By the second week of October, you should make travel arrangements for the holidays.”

Young is already looking for a deal on her next vacation.

With airline ticket costs down, Young said, “I’m really expecting us going a little more in the future year than I originally expected in our travelling budget.
