Escalation Warning from Russia’s Ambassador:
Russia’s ambassador to the UK, Andrei Kelin, has issued a warning about the potential escalation of the war in Ukraine.
As Britain and other Western allies provide more weapons to aid President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kelin expressed concerns that the actions of NATO countries, particularly the UK, could prolong the conflict and trigger a “new dimension” in the war.
He emphasized that Russia possesses significant resources and, despite the ongoing war, claimed that his country has not yet taken serious action.
Kelin stated that Russia, being 16 times larger than Ukraine, does not desire or require further escalation and could achieve peace promptly.
Disputes over War Crimes:
When questioned about mounting evidence of Russia’s alleged war crimes, the ambassador shifted blame to Ukraine, accusing them of committing war crimes instead.
He also dismissed the United Nations’ authority to investigate war crimes, asserting that it lacks the power to do so.
Largest Drone Attack Hits Ukraine’s Capital:
On the eve of Kyiv’s founding anniversary, the city experienced the most extensive drone attack since the beginning of Russia’s war, according to local officials.
Senior Kyiv military official Serhii Popko reported that Russia launched a massive attack during the night using Iranian-made Shahed drones.
The assault lasted over five hours, resulting in more than 40 drones being shot down by air defenses.
Tragically, a 41-year-old man was killed, a 35-year-old woman was injured, and a seven-storey non-residential building caught fire due to falling debris.
The Ukrainian air force disclosed that it was a record-breaking night for Shahed drone attacks across the country, with 52 out of 54 drones successfully intercepted by air defense systems.
Additional Casualties in Kharkiv Province:
In the north-eastern Kharkiv province, two separate shelling attacks resulted in the deaths of a 61-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man, as reported by regional governor Oleh Syniehubov.
