Ronwen Williams – We always link ourselves with large trophies

Saturday at the FNB Stadium, Mamelodi Sundowns will compete in their first-ever Carling Black Label Cup. As they prepare for their first match of the day against AmaZulu, the Brazilians anticipate battling for a berth in the championship match. “We are excited to participate in the Carling Black Label Cup for the first time. Ronwen Williams, goalie for Masandawana, stated, “Looking at the trophy now, I know the entire team wants our name attached to it because we are a major team and we always want to be associated with great trophies.”

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper also gave his thoughts on the competition, stating that the team’s goal is to win all the trophies within their reach, and that they work tirelessly to achieve this. On Saturday, the squad will attempt to win the championship for the first time. When asked whether the team will be harmed by the ‘odd’ morning start time of their first game, he responded: “I don’t think so.”

“The time difference will not be a problem for us because we are pros who have played night and early games. What must occur is for us to complete the task, and I suppose we must sleep early the night before in order to be rested for the morning confrontation.”

Williams stated that the team must adjust to the manner in which the competition is conducted and always recall the day’s assignment and purpose. The Brazilian stated that he is fortunate to be a member of Mamelodi Sundowns since their mission aligns with his own and the rest of the team seeks to work together to uphold the club’s reputation.

Bafana Ba Style are prepared for all of the day’s activity and do not believe that playing their first match so early in the morning will hinder their pursuit of the Black Label Cup. Williams stated that the team does not underestimate AmaZulu, which is why they are prepared to battle. He went on to say that he is convinced that the team will do their best to make the Yellow Nation proud, and that they look forward to bringing the trophy back to Chloorkop.

The Brazilian was looking forward to the challenge and winning the title in their debut Carling Cup appearance. The squad aims to end Saturday on a high note and enter the holiday break with a historic victory. AmaZulu FC will face Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. The match will be broadcast live on Supersport.
