The Big One Roller Coaster in Blackpool Shuts Down Twice in Two Weeks

Blackpool’s popular roller coaster, The Big One, has halted operations and evacuated passengers for the second time in two weeks.

Previously known as the Pepsi Max Big One, the £12 million ride is the largest roller coaster in the UK but has recently been gaining notoriety for its instability.

The Ride Halts Due to Sudden Changes in Weather

The roller coaster first stopped on April 11 due to Storm Noa, which brought winds of up to 90mph across the country.

The recent shutdown occurred on Sunday afternoon, and the ride’s visitors were once again forced to walk down the staircase that accompanies the 234ft high coaster to reach safety.

The reason for the second shutdown remains unclear.

The Pleasure Beach spokesman has confirmed the ride’s indefinite closure, and passengers have expressed their concerns on social media.

While some have commented on the excitement of the ride, others have expressed worries about the roller coaster’s safety, with one user suggesting that it should be checked out to prevent any potential accidents.

The Big One’s Troubled Past

Since its opening in 1994, the Big One has left passengers stranded on multiple occasions.

While some visitors continue to ride the coaster for the thrill, others feel that the ride needs to be more thoroughly evaluated to prevent any future incidents.

Despite the Big One’s recent troubles, the roller coaster remains a beloved attraction at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The theme park has yet to announce any plans to permanently close the ride or make any significant changes to its safety measures.
