Rochelle Berman, a former radio and television host, recorded hours of conversations with Jared Fogle, former spokesperson for Subway, in a secret bid to prove that he was a child predator.
Berman, who became an FBI asset to build a case, recorded Fogle asking if he could see her kids naked, and making other shocking statements.
Fogle expressed interest in children’s “nice, pure bodies,” suggested he and Herman “should try and get some child porn videos to watch together,” and even shared details of a sexual encounter with a “little boy” in Thailand.
Berman’s recordings and testimonies of Fogle’s two victims and his associate Russell Taylor are laid bare in a new docu-series, “Jared From Subway: Catching a Monster”. Fogle was a successful pitchman for Subway, and he was also preying on underage children.
The first exchange that spurred Berman into action took place in 2006 when Fogle unknowingly spoke into a hot microphone, confessing to Berman how he felt about middle school girls. Berman felt that Fogle’s seemingly friendly demeanour was just a mask, and there was something sinister about him.
Fogle was not the only one in his inner circle with a mask, as Taylor, his Jared Foundation executive, was also hiding something.
He married Angela Baldwin and became the stepfather to her two children, Hannah Parrett and Christian Showalter. Parrett, now 21, described Taylor as initially “very charismatic,” but his facade faded over time.
Baldwin agreed to place hidden cameras throughout their home, including the girls’ bedrooms, so that Taylor could catch her children in private moments. Taylor was arrested in April 2015 for possession of child pornography and found to have more than 500 explicit images in his home.
Baldwin was later implicated in and arrested for producing and possessing child sex abuse material. Fogle was arrested and charged with child pornography and distribution and engaging in commercial sex acts with underage minors in August 2015. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 15½ years in prison in November 2015.
Baldwin was sentenced to over 33 years, while Taylor received a 27-year sentence. Unfortunately for Baldwin’s children, they were caught up in the nightmare.
