Brazen Predator Receives 17-Year Prison Sentence for Multiple Sexual Assaults
Leon Alexander, a predator described as “brazen,” has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for a series of sexual assaults targeting children and lone women over a span of five years.
His capture came after he raped a teenage girl in north London, prompting an investigation that led to his conviction for previous crimes.
Apprehension and Evidence Gathering
The police were alerted by the teenage girl, who had been raped after leaving a residential building in Joyce Avenue, Edmonton.
Law enforcement officers launched an investigation and obtained CCTV footage, which provided an image resembling the attacker as described by the victim.
The image was circulated among police, leading to the identification, arrest, and subsequent remand of Leon Alexander, who resided in Tottenham.
Past Incidents and the Role of the CPS
Detective Constable Rebecca Mussington, the lead investigator, discovered that Alexander had been previously arrested on suspicion of sexual offenses.
However, charges were never brought against him by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
One of the incidents involved a rape in 2010, where Alexander had met a woman online and subsequently assaulted her at an address in Tottenham.
Despite an investigation and arrest, there was insufficient evidence at the time to proceed with charges.
In 2017, Alexander was also charged with a sexual assault in Edmonton after following a woman out of a shop and assaulting her behind a car.
The victim managed to escape, and Alexander’s arrest was facilitated by the mobile number he had given her.

Detective Constable Mussington resubmitted the case files to the CPS, which this time agreed to press charges for both offenses.
Following a trial at Wood Green Crown Court, Alexander was found guilty of two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault by touching, and one count of sexual activity with a child.
The judge acknowledged Alexander’s “indiscriminate and unpredictable” sexual behavior and emphasized the need for an extended prison sentence to mitigate the risk of further offenses.
