Robbie Power, a Boylesports ambassador and race planner for Henry de Bromhead, won the Grand National in 2007 with Silver Birch.

In the interview, Power spoke about his emotions on the day he won the Grand National, reminiscing that he was in a state of shock when he crossed the line.

“We hoped going there that if everything went right and he ran well we might finish in the first five or six, but to win it…” Power said.

He credited his win in the Grand National as a kickstart to his career after a difficult year with injuries.

Power said that the celebrations for the Grand National win took him into Liverpool, but he had to be restrained as he had a ride booked at Tramore the following day.

He had to be up at 5 am to get a 6:30 am flight to Dublin.

Silver Birch was paraded in Power’s local village of Summerhill on Sunday night, and the celebrations kicked into gear then.

Power ran on adrenaline for about a month after winning the Grand National.

According to Boylesports, Corach Rambler, the Ultima winner, is the favourite for the 2023 Grand National, with last year’s winner, Noble Yeats, the next best.
