Riverside, El Dorado, and Placer counties face fire emergencies

Governor Gavin Newsom today declared a state of emergency for Riverside County due to the Fairview Fire and for El Dorado and Placer counties due to the Mosquito Fire amid persistently hazardous fire conditions.

More than 19,000 acres have burnt in the Fairview Fire, which has also claimed the lives of civilians.

Both flames are requiring the evacuation of tens of thousands of inhabitants as they pose a danger to several neighbourhoods and vital infrastructure.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency gave California a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) earlier this week to assist assure the availability of crucial resources to put out the Fairview Fire.

In response to the Mill Fire, Governor Newsom declared a state of emergency in Siskiyou County last week.

He also disclosed that the state has acquired an FMAG to aid in the firefighting effort.
